Trauma Informed Care: Body, Mind and Spirit, and Why it Matters

Interactive Online Workshop
Dates and Times:
Saturday, September 25th and Sunday, September 26, 2021
10:00am–3:00pm EST (1 hour lunch break)
Presenters: Judy Choix and Matthew Whaley

Research shows that trauma is a nearly universal experience for individuals with behavioral health issues and more than likely a universal experience for anyone dealing with addiction and recovery issues. And, an individual’s experience of trauma impacts every area of human functioning—their physical, mental, behavioral, social, and spiritual well-being. It is therefore imperative to be trauma informed and have a greater understating of the biology and psychology of trauma.

The body, mind, and psyche have a natural hierarchy that, when aligned, naturally orients the system toward health. When this happens, we are able to regulate and experience connection, support, and "flow" in daily life. We suffer and have a crisis in life not because we are broken, but because we are out of alignment and/or disconnected somewhere in this multi-dimensional field.

Through a Gestalt lens, using field theory and neuroscience, this five-day, comprehensive workshop on trauma proposes a multidimensional diagnostic model for identifying what trauma looks like in a client's body, mind, and psyche, and offers concrete methods of treatment to restore vitality and wholeness.
